About Hinesville Fire Department

The City of Hinesville has a population of approximately 30,000 people living in an area of 17 square miles. Our service area covers all of Liberty County (603 square miles). We operate out of two stations. As a public department, our members are a combination of career and reserve firefighters, with 43 career firefighters, 10 reserve firefighters, one administrative assistant, and one administrative clerk. We currently have an ISO rating of 3 and are always looking to improve.

We are dedicated to safeguarding the lives, property, and environment of our community through exceptional service in education, preparedness, prevention, and response to emergency incidents.

Three shifts staffed 24 hours a day by career firefighters under the supervision of three captains. An essential function of the department is to provide a positive presence in the community. A strong emphasis is placed on connecting the fire department and the community together.

This department has automatic aid with Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield Fire and Emergency Services and mutual aid with all the Liberty County fire departments. We have a progressive fire prevention education program that is offered throughout the schools and community.

Engine and truck companies are staffed by on-duty firefighters with reserve firefighters available on call. Each call is evaluated on an individual basis and equipment is dispatched accordingly.

Operations include fire suppression, medical first responder, hazardous materials and rescue incidents. Crews respond to emergency incidents with a variety of Fire apparatus.

Call volume for 2002 was approximately 2,000 emergency responses.
