Fire Explorers Post #190

Established in 2000 in association with the Boy Scouts of America, the Hinesville Fire Department developed Explorer Post #190. The Hinesville Fire Explorer Post is a youth oriented program directed at helping young adults who have an interest in the fire service. The program meets twice a month at the fire station from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Explorers are taught the basic skills of fire fighting and first aid. Much of the training is hands-on and is supervised by fire department personnel. Meetings also include public service projects and fund raising activities. Explorers are also encouraged to ride-a-long with us as observers. Explorers will learn how hard work, discipline, and a structured work environment can promote safety and teamwork in successfully completing a common objective. They will also gain a sense of pride in serving the community. Parents will witness the positive outcome by having their child enroll in this growing program. Although the program is voluntary, some purchases are necessary. Insurance and a complete uniform make up much of the cost and are required for membership. The Explorers are always in search of energetic young men and women who are eager to learn more about the fire service. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 20 years of age with a grade point average of 2.0 or greater is eligible to apply.

Contact the station for further information at 876-4143.
