Construction Codes

The City of Hinesville enforces the Georgia State Minimum Standard Codes. These codes are used to review and inspect all construction in the City. Each of these separate codes typically consists of a base code (e.g. the Standard Building Code as published by the Southern Building Code Congress International) and a set of Georgia amendments to the base code. These codes are as follows :

Mandatory Codes

• Standard Building Code, 2000 edition
• National Electrical Code, 2000 edition
• Standard Gas Code, 2000 edition
• Standard Plumbing Code, 2000 edition
• CABO 1&2 Family Dwelling Code, 2000 edition
• CABO Model Energy Code 2000 edition
• Standard Mechanical Code, 2000 edition
• Standard Fire Prevention Code, 2000 edition

The State of Georgia has specifically deleted the plumbing and electrical requirements of the CABO One and Two Family Dwelling Code. Therefore, the Standard Plumbing Code and the National Electrical Code shall govern in all residential construction .
