There are several sources of flooding in our city, and our goal at the City of Hinesville is to ensure that you are safe from the potential damages of flooding. Even if your property is not in a floodplain, you still need to protect yourself and be aware of flood hazards in our community.
Education and awareness are the first steps in protecting yourself. Check your flood hazard by viewing flood maps and flood protection references available in the Department of Inspections and Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission offices. These offices can provide you with depth of flooding, past flood problems in the area, and copies of elevation certificates for your property. Even if you are not in a floodplain, there may still be some risk so become informed anyway.
If requested, the Public Works Department will visit a property to review its flood problem and explain ways to stop flooding or prevent flood damage. Call Public Works at (912) 876-8216. There is no fee for these services.
If you are in a floodplain or have had flooding issues, drainage, or sewer backup problems or would like information about local flood hazard maps and permit requirements, please use the resources provided by the City of Hinesville to assist you by calling or visiting the Department of Inspections.
