POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Hinesville Police Department was established in 1941 with only one police officer.

Today, the Hinesville Police Department is one of the largest municipal law enforcement agencies in Georgia. It is composed of a diverse group of men and women who work diligently to provide high-quality services for the more than 33,000 residents and thousands of annual visitors to the Hinesville–Ft. Stewart area. In addition to its Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and Administrative Services Division, the Hinesville Police Department also has an Office of Professional Standards; digital forensics lab; probation and records sections; traffic, drug, and crime suppression units, community and school resource officers; front-desk services; and many other ancillary functions that foster proactive, positive community relationships.
