Applications & Requirements

It is recommended that your contractor, if you are hiring one to perform your project, applies for the permit(s). This is to ensure that they hold all the required business license(s) and/or State licenses necessary to perform the work as well as to ensure they provide all information pertinent to the project to the permitting office. Refer to Georgia Secretary of State Office for information on contractor licensing requirements.

Applications for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing permits may only be made by, and will only be issued to, an individual holding a valid State electrical, mechanical, or plumbing license or to an individual performing work on a single-family dwelling that is occupied by the applicant, provided that all work pursuant to such a permit be in conformity with all provisions of the codes.

Document Requirements

Residential Permit Applications: Generally, two copies of the site plan, floor plan, wall section, and blueprints are required when you submit your permit application. Copies of your business license and legal identification are required when applicable.
