Councilman Ortiz
Born Jose Antonio Ortiz Jr. in the city of The Bronx, NYC in Nov.1968.
Married to Davina Ortiz for over 30 years, a father of two wonderful boys Tony 23, a senior electrical engineer at Georgia Southern and David a sophomore athlete in Football, Cross Country, and a National League Soccer player.
Arrived in Hinesville in 1980 as a 11-year-old sixth grader at Button Gwinnett Elementary then to Hinesville Middle School (P-K Center) then Bradwell Institute before enlisting in the Georgia Army National Guard in Hinesville (166th Maintenance Co.) just before deployment to support the 24ID in Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990.
After the his military career Ortiz went into the finance business in small loans and home mortgages in the Atlanta area before transferring back to his home town of Hinesville, GA.
Ortiz has worked with the Liberty County Sheriff's office and then on to Smith State prison as a correctional officer before transitioning employment at Ft. Stewart as an Electronic Range Technician.
